Amigurumi List / Tutorials

Two Peas in a Pod from Lion Brand Yarn

Ever since I started crocheting, I have been relying a lot on Amigurumi World (by Ana Paula Ramoli) and Super Cute Crochet (by Nicki Trench). There is an unlimited source of ami patterns online, and the following are the ones which I thought were cute and may try in the future. I thought of sharing the list here, just in case you would like to try them too :)

Crocheting/Amigurumi tutorials if you would like to start learning now
I used a variety of online videos and library books to help me learn. These are the video tutorials which I find particularly useful:

** The Knit Witch: Single Crochet Stitch, Double Crochet Stitch
--> I found these tutorials really clear. I learned sc and dc just by watching these videos :).

** Hook and Needles: Amigurumi 1, 2 and 3
--> These tutorials are fast paced. I find it easier to watch the Knit Witch's videos first before going through Hook and Needles tutes.

** Learn to read patterns using Nimoe's cupcake tutorial

The bunny on the cover of the book should look familiar :)

Cheeky Chick

Cheeky, the Chick

Just a quick post to introduce you to Cheeky.
It is one tiny chick - about the size of a size 7 egg.

Unlike Big Heart Bunny, Cheeky is able to stand on its own two scrawny feet!
Can you see its tiny feet?

Okie dokie!
I'm off now to lunch with friends ;).
I promise I'll come visit your blogs tonight or tomorrow :).

Have an awesome weekend! :)

Say, "Tees!"

I reckon I spoil my family too much. Every time I visit them, I bear a large pile of gifts. Today, I bought these adorable tees for my sisters. While I prefer to avoid wearing "cutesy" tees to classes, my sisters, on the other hand, are comfortable wearing them everywhere :). So these are perfect for them.

No meals with friends for the next two weeks for me! And no movies. Or coffee...

Big Heart Bunny

Big Heart Bunny

Big Heart Bunny

Big Heart Bunny is a pattern from Nicki Trench's book, with few modifications here and there. For example, missing limbs :D.
I had actually prepared all 4 limbs. But I decided it looked cuter limb-less. Perhaps you can be the judge. I'll be posting some pictures from the book soon :).

Poor little thing can't sit or stand. Hence, it was subjected to some cruelty while I attempted to take some decent photos of it.

I pegged its ear.
Ouch?

Always Smile :)

There's a seller on DaWanda who sells the loveliest things. Handmade items can also be purchased (moumou is incredibly talented and creative!) and everything in-store is soooooo adoh-ra-ble! I am so In Love with this store!

Such a cute way to tote papers/documents around :)

I love Little Red Riding Hood, and this card holder is to die for!

Zakka handmade bag :)

My favourite deco tape so far!

I need this to keep my computer table cord free!

A beary cute pouch :)

I love this - dokidoki make-up wallet!

I should have this permanently stampedon my forehead :D

About the seller: moumou from Always Smile is based in Guangzhou! Is she awesome or what? :D

Not so sick of eggs :)

mejika

On Tuesday, when I was moaning and groaning about the fever I was having, I accidentally published the post when I was still busy and sickly editing it. Which explains why the title was missing.

But my appetite has returned (which is great). And I've been consuming lots of eggs during my sickly days (because I have nothing else left in my fridge) :D. Since I'm still so egg-ified, I thought this post should have some egg-love too :).

I hope you like eggs as much as I do (especially those yummy egg tarts - they are my absolute favourite!)
Have a wonderful Friday/Thursday :)

1. suicidal impulses, 2. sick finger
It was supposed to be "back-to-school" day.
I was supposed to be in class at 8 a.m.
But that is not to be.
Instead, I am home, nursing a gigantic headache, plugging leaky noses with tissues and curing scratchy throats with Strepsils.
Yip dee doo.
Hope your Monday is coming along better than mine!

Coffee me up!

When I was still a child, I would request for strong iced coffee (strong on the coffee, not the ice :D) when drink orders were taken in foodstalls.

Shinzi Katoh

The elderly ladies whom took our orders would always remember me because I ordered the same drink Every Single Time.

from Sakurako Kitsa

I think dad was somewhat proud. He's a caffeine addict, and I have turned out to be even more of an addict that he is. There was a time when I was drinking 3 cups everyday for a month.

from FromJapanWithLove

On doc's orders, I don't do that anymore. But I've been naughty, I snuck a cup of coffee under my covers last night. Shhhhh... This is between you and me :D

And thanks for the wonderful comments in the previous amigurumi post!
You (yes, you!) have a wonderful Friday and weekend! :D

Chocolates and the Amigurumis

Bear Ami

You are probably tired of my amigurumi questions by now. I know I am ;)! I assure you that the "Is this the right side?" and "What do you think I did wrong?" will end Right Now :D.

I figured life is too short to be agonising over which is the "right" side, and the problems with my stitches. Instead, I'm following my gut instincts - the "right" side will be the less fuzzy side, and the one which looks good! Of course if you think I'm doing it wrongly, please feel free to leave a comment ;).

Bear Ami

Amigurumi-ing is so addictive. I'm now contemplating my next amigurumi project. And there's a need to go shopping for yarn. In the meantime, all amigurumis are housed next to my pillow on my bed. With Chocolates, the Tatty Teddy.

Chocolates and the Amigurumis

Chocolates and the Amigurumis. Sounds a little like the name of a band. A plushie band. Lol.

And that's all from me, Chocolates and the Amigurumis!

Have a wonderful week ahead :)

PS: The "Me to You" bear was a gift from my friends on my 17th birthday. When I received it, it had chocolate on its fur (my birthday cake was iced with chocolate!). And thus, Chocolates it was named! Tsk. How un-original!

Happy weekend to all!

It was an excellent Friday at Auckland Domain.
We were there to celebrate spring, and more importantly, a dear friend who turned 21.
There was the gift unwrapping session (I love those!).
And some balloons which kept on popping unexpectedly.
But spring is still at its infancy and the winter chills lingered.
We had to relocate the blankets and food to sunnier spots one too many times. Despite the wind chills, we ate and played. And ate somemore.

Then there was the bubbletea break.

And a late night snack of burgers by the train station carpark...
It was a wonderful end to the first week of the break :)

Hope your week was wonderful too, and have a lovely weekend ahead! I'll be back with more crafty updates :).

xoxo

Of bunnies and books

This post is slightly image heavy. I've taken snippets from books which I have been perusing in the past week.

Right on top of the stack sits my friend's birthday gift. She is crazy about photography, and she soon will be the proud owner of a Nikon D90 DSLR in November. Lucky duck. With some research done via Amazon and blogs, I found out that Scott Kelby's book is The Book to buy. I think I bought the only copy left in the whole of Auckland.

Book 2: is Plush You! It was released quite some years ago. It is brimming with plushies. Plushie awesomeness. :D

Book three: Sew Darn Cute. The book is filled with cuteness, and I find the projects inspiring. And Square Bean here deserve some cute recognition.

Book four is Meet Me At Mike's. When I received an e-mail from the local library, informing me that the book was ready for pick-up, I almost ran out of my apartment in my pyjamas (it was night when I read the e-mail). I Love the pictures in the book.

Book 5 is Gooseberry Patch Christmas, taken out from the library with the intention of fooling myself in thinking that Christmas is around the corner. It worked for few seconds.

Book 6 is Amigurumi World. I adore this book. The patterns are cute! This is a bunny which I made from a pattern in the book.

Looks more like an amigurumi right? I finally figured out what was wrong with the minty pear - I was pulling through the wrong loops! However, I'm still not certain if my stitches are 100% correct...

Edited to add: I'm so bad at amigurumi :(. It looks like bunny here was not turned the right side out. I should have listened to the comments on the previous posts. But it is so hard to find the "right side" when both sides are so fuzzy. If you have an idea on how to find the "right side" of an amigurumi, please tell me! :)

That's all from me. Happy early September to you... and you!
